Wylene Taylor Jones, 94, passed away June 4, 2026, at Lexington Premier Nursing Home, Lexington, KY.
She was born on September 28, 1931, the daughter of James Alfred and Eula Burnette Taylor of Corbin, KY. In addition to her parents, Wylene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mack Jones, and her sister, Maxine Von Gruenigen. She is survived by her daughter Susan Jones of Lexington, KY, a granddaughter Mackenzie (Nate) Black of Nashville, TN, and several nieces and nephews.
Wylene was a lifelong resident of Corbin and a member of First Baptist Church, where she was secretary for many years. She was passionate about volunteering for her church, participating in two mission trips.
Wylene once assisted customers at the Sears, Roebuck, & Company catalog store in Corbin. Later she became the office manager for numerous physicians includingDr. Keith P. Smith, Dr. B.H. Wells, Dr. L.U. Gilliam and Dr. Richard Park.
In retirement, Wylene loved watching the birds and squirrels from her back porch rocker. She enjoyedreading, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter.
Wylene will be fondly remembered by family and friends
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m.
She will be laid to rest at Corinth Cemetery in Corbin, KY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church’s White Flag Ministries, 401 N Laurel Avenue, Corbin, Kentucky 40701.
