Willard Rucker

Willard Rucker, age 91, of Gray, Kentucky, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Born in Gray, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Jake and Lizzie Rawlings Rucker.

Willard lived a vibrant life full of laughter, love, and dedication. Willard was a funny and spirited soul. His dedication was not only seen in his career as a welder and boilermaker with the Iron Workers Union, Local 105, but also in his unwavering commitment to his beloved family.

Willard was a confident, extroverted man who trusted in God and cherished his family above all else. He was an active member of the Keck Baptist Church. Willard found joy and peace in the simple pleasures of life. He loved all things horses and had a profound love for Tennessee Walkers, horses that are known for their unique gait and gentle disposition.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Grover Rucker, Minnie Peace, Ruby Israel, Carrie Johnson, Oleith Rucker, Georgia Rucker, and Wilma Burnette; a grandson Charles Christopher Rucker; great-grand sons, Kevin Ray Rucker, and Kyle Joseph McKinley Rucker.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Phelps Rucker, and their children Charles Rucker, Shelva Lee Rucker, Diane Rucker, Kathy Rucker, Connie Winings, and Ruby Fowler (Adam) along with a host of Grandkids, Great-Grandkids and Great-Great-Grandkids.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin, Kentucky, where his funeral service will follow at 2:00p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Siler & Rev. Darrell Warren will officiate.

Burial will follow at Clouse Cemetery in Gray, KY.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Rucker, Scottie Rucker, Larry Walters, Henry Smith Jr. & Mick Mabe.
