Sundie Lou Mason

Sundie Lou Mason, age 76, was born on November 22, 1949, in Jensen, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James and Florine Murphy, and was called home by her Savior on December 25, 2025 at Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky.

Sundie embodied the Christian principles of compassion, generosity, love, and service throughout her life. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life, and she was a worshipper wherever God's people gathered. For Sundie, to serve was to love, and she loved abundantly. She found joy in the simplest acts of kindness, often going out of her way to help a neighbor, a stranger, or anyone in need, truly embodying the spirit of the Good Samaritan.

Sundie was a self-employed housekeeper, serving people in all of the tri-county area. She was also known for her love of singing, often lifting the spirits of those around her with her beautiful voice. Yet, what mattered most to Sundie was her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Sundie was preceded in death by her brothers, Dan Murphy and James Asa Murphy.

She is survived by her children, Remell Hollin (Bill), Gerald Mason(Tara), Glenn Mason(Bonita); grandchildren, Brittany Hollin Thompson, Dylan Hollin, Austin Hollin(Emma Middleton), Marcus Hollin, Ashley Mason, Emily Hutton, Dalton Mason, Isaac Mason and Madison Mason; siblings, Judy Smith, Peggy Steele, Polly Owens, Sheila Hunt, Russell Murphy, Loretta Johnson; former husband, Nathan Mason and a host of family and friends.

Visitation for Sundie Mason will be held from 6-9 pm on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master Street, Corbin, Kentucky. Her funeral service will be on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Charlie Humfleet and Rev. Jeff Sturdivant officiating..

Burial will follow in Stansbury Cemetery in Corbin, KY.
