Rodney E. Sevier was born on March 10, 1975, in Corbin, Kentucky, and passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Baptist Health in Corbin.
Rodney was a man beloved by many. He was known for his sense of humor and his generosity. His children and grandchildren were the pride of his life. However, he loved every child he met as his own, and his fondest memories are the times he spent with them. Rodney also had a soft spot for every stray and was commonly found at home with his cats and dog, and the occasional chicken.
Rodney was a staple at various poker rooms and was known for more than just shuffling cards- his presence ensured a lively game and great company. He was preceded in death by his father William Ross Sevier and mother Virgie Mason Carpenter
Rodney was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his daughter, Kaetlyn Sevier; son Jonas Sproles; grandchildren, Alice and Ezra Sevier; siblings, Sandie Houck, Jeff Sevier, Wayne Sevier, Lisa Burner, Roger Sevier, Paul Sevier, Stacy Sevier, Scott Sevier, and Jason Sevier; and by numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12noon until 2pm on Wednesday February 18, 2026, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held at 2pm, with Bro. Charles Collier officiating. Burial will follow in the McHargue Cemetery in Laurel County.
