Richard "Monte" Montgomery Peace

Richard “Monte” Montgomery Peace, age 57, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Baptist Health Corbin.

Born in Corbin, KY, he was the son of the late Richard Earl Peace and Esther Lucille Peace. Monte worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Baptist Health Corbin and was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. He was known for his intelligence, curiosity, and willingness to help others, especially when it came to technology. A true tech enthusiast, Monte loved learning about the latest trends and sharing his knowledge with those around him.

Monte enjoyed music, collectibles, and spending time outdoors, especially camping. He appreciated life’s adventures and the simple joy of being surrounded by nature. His kind spirit, sense of humor, and passion for learning made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Tiffany Arps, Shawna Peace, and Jacob Peace; their mother, Angela Watkins; grandson, Shiloh Nolan; sister, Carlee Rutherford; niece and nephew, Hannah Rutherford and Noah Rutherford; and his significant other, Shantana Williams.

A memorial visitation to celebrate Monte’s life will be held from 2:00–4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
