Phyllis Joyce Sizemore-Haney, age 75, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Born August 7, 1949, in Oneida, Kentucky, she was a woman whose heart seemed to have no limits. A lifelong nurturer, Phyllis lived to care for others—whether you were family, friend, or simply someone in need, her door was always open.
Phyllis met the love of her life, Mike Haney, when they were just children. What began as a childhood friendship blossomed into a lifelong romance that lasted over 40 beautiful years of marriage. Their home on Berwyn Place became more than just a house—it was a sanctuary. To many, it was the place you went when you needed comfort, kindness, or simply a warm meal. Phyllis and Michael created a haven where love was not only spoken but lived.
They shared a special joy in the little things, especially dancing. Mike would often put on Queen and twirl Phyllis around their living room, the two of them laughing, completely lost in each other’s joy. It’s easy to imagine that same scene playing out in Heaven today, the music still playing, their love still shining.
Beyond her love for Mike, Phyllis was known as a mother to all. Her generosity, warmth, and steady presence left an imprint on countless lives. She also brought her compassion and strong work ethic to her role as a special services expeditor with Home Depot, where she served her team and customers with the same heart she gave her community.
Phyllis Joyce Haney lived a life defined by love, compassion, and grace. She gave endlessly and asked for little. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and in the deep, abiding love she shared with Michael—a love story that, even now, continues on.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Lee Haney, Sr.; parents, Arthur Sizemore and Nell Bundy Sizemore; three children; and six siblings, Jennings, Owen, Betty, Arthur Jr., Nancy, and Penny.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Michael Lee Haney Jr., Amie Joy Miller (Christopher), Timothy Andrew Haney (Samantha); grandchildren, Taran Christopher Miller, Steven Tyler Haney, LeAnnah Michelle Widener (Cody), Samantha Alanis Miller, Emily Grace Lake, Emma Lee Haney, and Kaitlyn Francine Haney; great grandchildren, Blaze, Liam, and Raylan Widener; sister, Sue Sparks; and by numerous bonus babies who all loved her dearly.
Visitation will be held from 12-2 pm on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will follow at 2 pm on Saturday.
Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin, KY.
