Peggy Ann Smith Reeder

Dec 15, 1947 — Aug 1, 2026

Corbin, Kentucky

On August 1, 2026 Peggy Ann Smith Reeder, at 78 years of age, left this world to go to a far better place, where many loved ones and her Savior awaited her. There Jesus wiped the last lingering tear from her eyes, unleashed her from every burden and care of this life, and escorted her as she beheld her new home. She joyfully found every promise of Heaven recorded in His Word to be true.

Peggy was fearfully and wonderfully made, a gift from God, born to her mother Lula Mildred Mobley Bunton and her father William Bill Smith, on December 15, 1947 in Corbin, Ky. On May 5, 1966, she was once again a gift from God to her wonderful husband, Daniel Reeder Jr, who walked with her faithfully on life’s journey for over 60 years. God blessed their journey together with four children, Daniel Dwayne Reeder (Tonya) of London, Ky, Chris Reeder (Jennifer) of Corbin, Ky, Vickie Engle (Brian) of La Porte, IN, and Cindy Reeder (Chris) of Corbin, Ky. To further fulfill the abundant life promised in God’s Word, He added to their family 11 grandchildren, and 9 great-children. It was into these lives that Peggy poured all she had, and somehow still found more to give.

Peggy was a steadfast, devoted woman of great strength, overcoming many hardships she rarely shared, but instead poured herself into making the lives of her loved ones easier. Christ shone most brightly through her in the care of her home and her family . She loved spending time with her family and friends. Just as Jesus showed His love by feeding the thousands, Peggy showed love by feeding others. She took the same care in fixing breakfast for her husband at 3:00 am when he was called into work as she did in fixing Christmas dinner for her family. She strove to do all things well. Jesus said, “If you have done it unto the least of these, you have done it unto me.” She spent her life doing things for Jesus. Her ministry was serving, and she shared it in vast supply. Some may have called her a Proverbs 31 woman, but to us she is Peg, mom, and mamaw.

Her journey in this life was intermittently filled with great grief in the passing of her parents, her brothers, William Carl Smith and Curtis Wayne Smith; her sister, Vicki Ilene Bishop; a grandson Brian Anthony Engle; and many other special friends and family.

With goodbyes now a thing of the past, and in the midst of all the beauty and joys that the Promised Land holds, Peggy still keeps a watchful eye on the gates of pearl, awaiting each of us to join her, when she will effortlessly and painlessly run to meet us in a body that will never grow old.
