Peggie Jean Singley Stephens, age 93, of Corbin, Ky, passed away Monday, November 17th, 2025, in Corbin, Ky.

Peggie was born August 23, 1932, in Corbin, Kentucky, to the late H.G. “Grady” and Lottie Mae O’Neal Singley. She was also preceded in death by her sister Frances Crane and brothers J.B., Terrell, and Jerry Singley.

Peggie graduated from Corbin High School in 1950. She was married to the late Allen R. “Skeeter” Stephens on June 21, 1952, at First United Methodist Church of Corbin by Rev. Ralph Wesley.

Peggie was a dedicated and active member of the First United Methodist Church, which later became Grace on the Hill Community Church. She received a lifetime membership pin as a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a leader of Women’s Circle 1, taught Sunday School, worked in the vacation bible school, was a leader of the United Methodist Youth, and sang with the Chancel Choir.

Peggie worked in the bookkeeping department at First National Bank and was very active in the community, serving as a member of the Homemakers Club.

Peggie was also known for planning and organizing many Corbin High School class reunions, where she kept meticulous records of classmates and their contact information.

Peggie was a loving mother and grandmother and was very active in their lives, serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a member of the Corbin High School Band Boosters. She always attended the various functions that the family was involved in.

Peggie was a passionate fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team and the Cincinnati Reds baseball team.

She is survived by her son, Ralph Stephens and wife, Debbie of Jacksonville, FL and daughter Alisa Stephens Williams of Corbin, KY; grandsons Derrick Stephens and wife Kelly of Cleveland, OH, Nic Stephens of Jacksonville, FL, and granddaughter Brooke (Nikki) Stephens of Jacksonville, FL; one brother Ted Singley and wife Jean, of Port Angeles, WA; and sister-in-law Margie J. Stephens, of Lexington, KY.

Visitation will be held at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin, Kentucky, on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Gordon McClure officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin, Kentucky. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Grace on the Hill Community Church Building Fund, 1632 Cumberland Falls Highway, Corbin, KY 40701.
