Nancy Colleen Lickliter Simpson, age 65, of Corbin, passed away at her home on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Born on July 23, 1960, in Corbin, KY, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Glenda Lickliter. Nancy was a beacon of joy, laughter, and unyielding love to her family and friends.
Nancy spent her life making others feel welcome and valued as part of her work at the Central Baptist Church. She was the embodiment of southern hospitality, always ready with a warm smile, a funny story, or a comforting word. Beyond her working church family, she was an active and longtime member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities. It was well known that whenever there was a church service or function, it would often be Nancy who would be first to the church to unlock the doors and turn the lights on.
Nancy leaves behind her loving husband, Kenneth Simpson, their two sons, Kenneth Simpson (Tori) and Cameron Simpson (Tina); grandchildren, Sawyer and Robbie; her siblings, Teresa Gregory (Steve), Carl Lickliter Jr. (Melinda), Robbie Lickliter (Becky), and David Lickliter (Lisa); and by numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends including her church family at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and Central Baptist Church.
Visitation for Nancy will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 6-9 pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, August 13th, from 1-2 pm at Liberty Baptist Church, 3574 KY 3436, in Corbin, KY, where her funeral service will be held at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Keaton Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lickliter Cemetery in Corbin.
