Murrel Benge

Murrel Benge, age 85 of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at his home.

Born in Laurel County, he was a son of the late Mack and Pearl Benge. He was a US Army veteran, devout Christian, and member of North Corbin Baptist Church. Murrel was a retired electrician and loved going to the gym.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and Hershel Benge, and by a sister Nell Sibole.

Murrel is survived by his loving wife, Mabel Broughton Benge; his extended family, Tiffany Grega, Matthew Perez, Shane and Jocelyn Sams, Issac Sams, Anna Jo Sams, and Bobbie Huff; and by his two fur babies, Zena Rose and Chipper.

Visitation will be from 12noon until 2 pm on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. His funeral will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 6th at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, with Shane Sams and Rev. Brent Carroll officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bruner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Isaac Sams, Shane Sams, Matthew Perez, Adam Ooten, Austin Ooten, Eddie Ooten, Bobby Allen, Nick Freeman, Gavin Wilson, and Cameron Allen.
