Momma J "JJ" Buckner

Momma J “JJ” Buckner, age 51, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at her home.

JJ loved her family more than anything, and once you were her friend, you quickly became family. She truly never met a stranger. Generous, kind, loving, and outgoing, JJ had a heart that welcomed everyone. She enjoyed going out for drives and treasured every moment spent with her precious grandbabies. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love knew no bounds.

In addition to her parents, Betty Gray and Gene Gray, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lana Michelle; brother, Ronald; sister, Betty Johnson Kelley; uncle, Gene “Hot Rod” Gray, Jr.; and her beloved dog, Lily Girl Buckner.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Buckner; children, Bridgette Buckner, Ronald “Ronnie” Johnson, Chassity Nicole Buckner, and Elizabeth “Na Na” Johnson; grandchildren, Natasha Senters, Mikayla Buckner, Kaden Buckner, Geovanni Snead, Madison Kyker, Carolina Griffin, and Malichea Johnson; siblings, Sheila Winkler, Bo Johnson, Keith Johnson, and Melinda Johnson; special friends, Mary, Tim, Jessica, and Tracy; and many other close friends and family who will forever cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., family and friends will be invited to share memories and stories of JJ’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to assist with expenses. Donations may be made online by selecting the “Donate Now” icon, in person at the funeral home, or by calling the funeral home directly. All donations will go toward assisting with expenses, and the family will receive a list of donors.
