Mary Proffitt

Mary Proffitt, 85, of London, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2007 at the Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly in London.
Born in Cumberland, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Raleigh and Sarah Caudill Raleigh. Mary was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and was the retired co-owner and operator of Proffitt's Grocery Store.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Proffitt in 1984; her son, Steve Lee Proffitt and by several siblings.
She is survived by her son, Glenn Proffitt and wife Janet of London; sisters, Polly Parsons of Texas, Ada Elliott of Corbin, Mattie Barnett of Virginia Beach, and Lisa Romines of Corbin; brother, Casper Raleigh of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandsons Ryan Proffitt and Ty Proffitt of London; and numerous other family members and friends, all who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
The family of Mary Proffitt will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
