Mary E. Helton

Mary E. Helton, age 78, of Keavy, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday May 30, 2026, at her home in Keavy.

She was born in Woodbine, Kentucky a daughter of the late M.O. Sturgill and Jeanette Richards Shumake. Mary was a retired factory worker and loved being with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Dennis and Danny Helton; grandchildren, Larry Helton and Barbara Gray; brother Roy Sturgell; and sisters, Nancy Baker and Lily Rowe.

Mary is survived by her children, Debra Shelton (Gary Burke), Rosalitta Gregory, Donald Helton (Judy), and Darrell Helton; grandchildren, Ledonna Searp (Mike), Teddy Gregory (Glenda), Barbara Rodriguez (Junior), Crystal Helton, Darlene Goodwin, Debbie Helton, Charles Gray, Tammy Sparks, Sheila Tate, and Dennis Merrill Helton; 19 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; siblings, Bill Sturgill, Pete Shumake, David Shumake, Charles Shumake, Juanita Nichols, and Faye Shumake; and by several nieces and nephews.
