Lucretia Lankford

Lucretia Lankford, age 83, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Born in Harlan, KY, she was the daughter of the late Richard Lunsford and Grace Ledford Lunsford. Lucretia was a talented and creative woman who loved working with her hands. She enjoyed crocheting and could make just about anything she set her mind to. She was also a gifted baker, known for creating beautiful wedding cakes and birthday cakes. Whether through crafts or baking, Lucretia found great joy in turning simple materials into something special.

She also enjoyed watching westerns and treasured the time she spent with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Donald Lankford, and many brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Kevin Lankford, Donnie Lankford (Linda), and David Lankford (Pamela); grandchildren, Holly Lankford (John), Kyra Lankford, Chantal Lankford, Jamie Lankford, and Davie Lankford; three great-grandchildren; brother, Walter Lunsford; and several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
