Laura Mae Adams, age 85, formerly of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday July 22, 2026, at her home in Upton, Kentucky, having lived a life full of love, care, and joyful moments, Laura's memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched
She was born on the 10th of April, 1941, in Knox County, Kentucky. She was the beloved daughter of the late Travis and Nancy Sasser Carter. A lover of conversation, Laura enjoyed visiting with her family and talking about the old days, her words often painting vivid pictures of the past. An avid shopper, she had a keen eye for quality and a knack for finding the best deals. Her faith was the focal point of her life. A dedicated member of the Rossland Holiness Church in Gray, Kentucky, Laura found immense solace and comfort in reading her Bible and attending church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Christa Swafford; brothers, Carl, Everett, Travis Carter Jr., J.C., Edward, Harrison, and Robert Carter; sisters, Tennessee Rhodes, Julie Brock, Ivy Webb, and Lucille Carter.
Laura especially loved being with her children and grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. She is survived by her loving children, Allen Thomas Carter (Jamie), Anna Carter, and Shelley Ledford; grandchildren, Lance Carter, Lekesha Carter, Justin Adams, Kendra Adams, Hannah Farris, Noah Farris, Jayden Adams, Braiden Adams, and Breenna Adams; step-grandchild, Austin Bolton; great grandchildren, Carter Murphy, Carson Murphy, Eliana Murphy, Casen Murphy, Ace Adams, Eva Waddell, Vivian Adams; step-great grandchild, Ezra Buchanan; and by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm on Sunday July 26, 2026, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday July 27th at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Edwards and Rev. Johnny Farmer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brafford Cemetery in Gray, Kentucky.
