Karen Lee Caldwell

Karen Lee Caldwell, age 71, of Gray, KY, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at her home. Born in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of the late Robert John Berning and Dorothy Wise Bizzant who survives her.

Karen loved her home and cooking for her family. She was very involved with giving and her generosity knew no bounds. She gave to the people of Israel and to The Church of God in Florida and she loved to see her donations at work. Karen also loved musicals and "The Sound of Music" was her favorite. 

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son Andrew Caldwell; brother Robert Berning; nephew Bob Berning; grandmother Lucy Berning; and grandpa Author Wise.

In addition to her mother, Karen is survived by her husband of over 50 years Roger Caldwell; children David Michael Caldwell, Roger Neil Caldwell, Amy Marie Sheilds (Michael), James Author Caldwell; grandchildren, Tyler Sheilds (Kaitlyn), Katelyn Freeman (Josh), Hannah Caldwell, Kristen Caldwell, Kortney Caldwell, Raven Sheilds, Kelsey Bryant (Adam), Ian Caldwell, Penelope Caldwell, Conner Shields, Raeleigh Caldwell, and Kiara Caldwell; siblings Diana Thatcher (Bruce), Robert Berning, Michael Berning, Lori McEntee, Debra Berning; and by Robert Saylor an extended member of the Caldwell family and numerous great-grandchildren and by many other family members and friends. 

Visitation for Karen Lee Caldwell will be on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 12~1 pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held at 1 pm with Rev. Wayne Maggard. Burial will follow the Calvary Cemetery Fox Addition.
