June Carol Carpenter

July 3, 1947 — January 26, 2026

Corbin, KY

She was born July 3, 1947, the daughter of the late Martha and Claude “Bud” Leger.

She was the proud mother of four children, and everything she did carried their names written between the lines. She worked hard—not for recognition, not for praise—but because providing, protecting, and loving her family was simply who she was. Her strength showed up every day, steady and dependable, even when life asked more of her than it should have.

She was well-liked because she was genuine. She had a way of making people feel comfortable, seen, and welcome. Whether you knew her for years or only a short time, you felt her warmth. She listened, she laughed easily, and she cared in a way that made people stay.

She found happiness in the simple pleasures—wandering flea markets, browsing thrift stores, finding beauty and value where others might overlook it. She loved the stories behind old things, the hidden gems, the thrill of a good find. In many ways, that reflected her own heart: someone who saw worth everywhere and made the most of what she had.

Her life was not flashy, but it was full—full of love, effort, sacrifice, and small joys that added up to something meaningful. Her legacy lives on through her children, through the people she touched, and through the memories we carry forward.

She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Her love remains, and her presence will always be felt in the lives she shaped so beautifully.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, James Davis of Corbin and Bill Hensley of Tennessee; one grandson, Timothy Lindsey of Indiana; and one great-granddaughter, Samantha Grace West of Corbin.

She is survived by her children, Carol (Bobby) Green of Indiana and Jerry (Nicole) Hensley of South Carolina; two sisters, Judy Hurst and Janice (Johnny Dean) Hurst of Corbin; three brothers, John (Linda) Leger, Jim Leger, and Jennings “Hoss” (Pauline) Leger, all of Corbin; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Pamela Felts, who was invaluable in her care.
