Joseph Roskopf, age 60, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at U.K. Chandler Hospital in Lexington, KY.
Born in Laurel County, KY, he was the son of the late Albert Joseph Roskopf and William Frances Mitchell. Joseph was a 1983 graduate of Corbin High School and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Cumberland College.
Joseph was known for his sharp wit and intelligence. A true technology enthusiast, he enjoyed working as an engineer but was equally comfortable taking on a variety of roles — including his time at the Laurel Cookie Factory — where he proved he could do it all. A devoted Corbin Football fan, he rarely missed the chance to tune in and hear the games being called.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clayton Gilbert, and by a very special friend, Alice Helton.
He is survived by his children, Brooke Roskopf (Justin) and Joseph Roskopf (Kim); grandchildren, Ayden Hammonds, Adelyn Hammons, Axyl Hammons, and Hudson Roskopf; stepchildren, Justin Gorsuch, Sidney Cook, Joanna Helton, Jacob Helton, Domanick Cook, and Dalton Cook; siblings, Brenda Gray (Randy) and Vicky Wagner (Danny); and his stepbrother, Benny Gilbert.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. George Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Cemetery in Gray, KY.
