Johnie Sherman “Bull” Durham, age 91, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Continue Care Hospital in Corbin.
Born in Arjay, KY, he was the son of the late Rollie Durham and Ella Williams Durham. Johnie lived a life devoted to his faith, his family, and his country. He proudly served as a veteran of the United States Army and was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and strength in his faith. For many years, Johnie worked as a conductor on the L&N Railroad, a career that reflected his dedication and strong work ethic. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and tending to the outdoors, but above all else, he cherished the time spent with his family, whom he loved deeply.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Yvonne Durham; son, Joey Durham; and granddaughter, Emma Durham.
He is survived by his children, Johnie Durham, Jr., Tammy Hendrickson (Jimmy), Patsy Horn (Darrell), and James Durham (Lanora); grandchildren, Jimmy Hendrickson (Julie), Chance Hendrickson (Kayla), Calli Justice (Joshua), Josh Horn (Tiffany), Whitney Breeding (Joe), Allison Kinman (Kirtley), Hannah Durham (Bradley), Briar Durham, and Sarah Sipes (Austin); fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Willie Durham (June); and sister, Mary Ruth Cook.
Visitation will be held from 1:00–4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton and Rev. Allen Bonnell officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hendrickson, Chance Hendrickson, Josh Horn, Easton Hendrickson, Jett Hendrickson, and Joshua Justice.
