Jerry Givens, age 79, passed away on August 20, 2025, at his home in Corbin, Kentucky.
Jerry was born on August 19, 1946, in Sunshine, Kentucky. He had retired from his service as a Plumbing Inspector for the State of Kentucky. Jerry was not only a respected professional, but he was also a man of diverse interests and hobbies. His passion for dancing led him to join the Dudes & Dolls Square Dancers, Tri-County Line Dancers, Train Station Line Dancers, and the Cumberland Gap Line Dancers.
An outdoorsman at heart, Jerry loved fishing, hunting, and kayaking, and was a member of the Moon Bow Camping Club. He also held a black belt in Judo. Jerry's creative side was reflected in his talent for carving, stained glass art, and creating his own fishing reels with intricate designs.
Jerry's life was marked by his love for family and friends, which was the most important part of his life. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Givens and Eula Miller.
He is survived by his daughters, Kristi (Wes) Carlisle, Erika (Chris) McHargue, and Brittney Givens, and his grandchildren, Carson (Riley) Carlisle, Maci Carlisle, Jaxon McHargue, and Colt McHargue. Jerry is also survived by his brother, Bill Givens, and sisters, Glyndon Givens and Judy Andrews Olliges.
Visitation for Jerry will be held on Saturday, August 30, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin, Kentucky. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Barbourville City Cemetery.
