Janet Hagan

Janet Rose Kidd Hagan, 79, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on August 14, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Janet was born on October 23, 1946, in Corbin, Kentucky, to Gerald and Rebecca Marie Kidd. She retired from the Corbin Police Department, where she served as a Chief Dispatch Officer. Janet was also an active member of West Corbin Baptist Church, where she faithfully served and led the Women’s Missionary Union.

Janet was known for her ability to always put a smile on others’ faces. She loved with her whole heart and touched the lives of so many. She was a light for the Lord and had a true servant’s heart. Her kindness, compassion, and love for others were evident in all that she did.

Janet is survived by her daughters, Johnna Helton and her husband, David, and Becky Barton and her husband, Paul; her grandchildren, Megan Helton, Abbey Ballinger, and Natalye and Tristin Sanders; great-grandchildren, Marcie Kate and Eleanor Bell; and sister, Jina (Delmar) Sevier. She is also survived by Harvey and Vickie Hagan and family, Shealynn and Aaron Perkins and family, and Skylyn Barton and family.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfrid Hagan, and her sisters, Jackie (Don) Bays and Jerry McKeller.

Visitation will be held from 12 - 2pm on Monday August 17, 2026, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master Street, Corbin, where her funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday with Rev. Albert Jones officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers will be Tristin Sanders, Skylyn Barton, Cody Lawson, Dillion Walls, Jack Carter, and Grady Rogers.

Janet will be remembered for a personality that was truly unmatched. She had a way of making everyone around her feel loved, welcomed, and cared for. There will never be another one like her, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
