James Oliver Shipman

James Oliver Shipman, 82, of Gulf Breeze, Florida and formerly of Corbin, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Pensacola, Florida.
Born near Pineville, KY he was a son of the late Arthur G. and Rachel Miracle Shipman.  A brother Patrick Shipman, sister Wilma Parrott and husband Leon, and grandson Cain McKinley Shipman also preceded him in death.
James had worked as a mechanic at Owens Garage in Corbin and had managed service stations in Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Wells Shipman;  sons James Matthew Shipman (Joy) and Joseph Michael Shipman;  grandchildren Paige McEldred, Joseph Robert Shipman, Thomas Stanley, Takota Brandon Shipman, James Elijah Shipman, and Jovanna Vanover;  brothers Luther Anderson Shipman and Herbert Grant Shipman; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held at 11am Tuesday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Stacy White officiating. Burial will be in the Wells Cemetery off the Bee Creek Road.
Visitation will be from 7 until 8pm Monday at the funeral home.
