James "Jim" Edwin Pace, age 88, of Corbin, Kentucky passed away on Saturday February 21, 2026, at Baptist Health in Corbin.
Born on Christmas Day in 1937 in Corbin, Jim brought the light of joy and kindness into the lives of everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Pace and Mattie Yeager Pace; and by his siblings, Maurice Pace, Clarence Pace, Joseph "Bo" Pace, and Alma Lundy.
Jim served his community with diligence and commitment as a Postmaster at the Pineville Post Office where he worked for over 35years until his retirement. His work was more than a job; it was a testament to his love for his community. Jim was a passionate man who enjoyed the outdoors, western movies, particularly Gunsmoke, and spending time at the Depot with his many friends. He was an ardent fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, but above all, his love for his family was paramount, especially his grandkids who brought him immense joy and pride.
Jim was a devout member of the First Baptist Church in Corbin, and he was a US Coast Guard veteran.
He is survived by his children, James Greg "Muggs" Pace (Donna), Cathy Smith (Tim), Julie Pace, and Janie Wood (Rodney); grandchildren, Heather Lauren Baker (Ricky), Mallory Estrada (Danny), Bradey Farris (Maddie), Maryann Copper (Kevin), Caden Wood, Mattie Farris, Zion Wood, and Canyon Wood; seven great grandchildren, Emma, Zophie, Simeon, Kyler James, Jude, Leighton, and Leo; siblings, Charles "Tak" Pace, Malcolm Pace (Sharon), and Jerry Pace; special family friend, Brandy Sanders; numerous nieces and nephews, and by his church family who were all so dear to him.
Visitation will be on Saturday February 28, 2026, from 12noon until 2 pm at the First Baptist Church in Corbin, Kentucky, where his funeral service will be held at 2 pm, with Rev. Alex Lockridge officiating.
Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin, with military honors.
