James Edward Helton

James Edward Helton, 84, of Woodbine passed away Thursday evening, November 3, 2016 at his home.
He had worked many years as a coal miner and enjoyed time spent with his family.
James was preceded in death by his wife Dora Depew Helton; his father Lloyd L. Helton; his mother Velva Angel Helton Sharp and step-father James Sharp; as well as sons Michael Helton and Thomas Helton; sisters Opal Knuckles and Oneida Lee; and brothers Raymond Helton, Lester Helton, Arnold Helton, Ray Sharp and Arville Sharp.
Survivors include a son Curtis Helton and wife Rhonda; daughters Brenda Pruitt and husband Dennis, Margaret Roberts and husband Jeffrey, and Deborah Brintley and husband John; a step-daughter Gloria Bercaw and husband Rob; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Brenda Swafford and Phyllis Faulkner; brothers Robert Sharp and Charles Pratt; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 6 pm Saturday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
James' funeral will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Keith Decker officiating.
Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery.
