Inez McDougal Person

Inez McDougal Person, age 71, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leonard T. Person and Laura Mae Williams McDougal. Inez worked as a client service specialist with Corbin Senior Citizens, where her caring nature and heart for others were evident in the way she served.

Inez was creative and talented with her hands. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and cosmetology. She also loved sports, whether she was playing or watching. Above all, Inez loved attending church and spending time with her family. She formerly attended Great St. Matthews A.M.E. in Brantley, AL, and her faith remained an important part of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Person; son, Tyrone L. Person; and six siblings.

She is survived by her son, Shaun Person; stepchildren, Ralph Person and Diane Person; grandchildren, Trey Person, Aaliyah Person, Breylon Person, Nakaia Person, Allison Lester, and Jacob Lester; brother, Stanley McDougal; sister, Jeannette McDougal; and a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brandon Azbill officiating.
