Henry Southerland

Henry Southerland, age 75, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Barbourville ARH Hospital.

Born in Balkan, KY, he was the son of the late John Southerland and Maude Smith Southerland. He was a graduate of Corbin High School and spent his life rooted in the community he loved.

In his earlier years, he loved playing softball with 17th Street Christian Church. Henry enjoyed gardening and took great pride in working with his hands. Until his vision declined, he spent many peaceful hours in his shed, crafting woodworking projects that reflected his patience and skill. He was of the Pentecostal faith and dearly loved his church family at Harvest Home Church, where he found deep fellowship and encouragement.

Henry was also a former employee of SEKRI, where he worked faithfully and formed lasting friendships. His steady work ethic and quiet dedication were evident throughout his years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Elsie Wilson of Kings Mills, OH; Doris Bell of Norwood, OH; Brenda Wilson of Maryland; Dillard Southerland of Loveland, OH; Earl Southerland of Cheviot, OH; Charles Southerland of Kings Mills, OH; Chuckie Southerland of Cincinnati, OH; and Steve Southerland of Amelia, OH.

He is survived by his daughter, Heather Deeshae Farmer and husband, Stewart of Corbin; and siblings, Dean Southerland of Highpoint, OH; Ernie Southerland of Loveland, OH; and Tim Smith of Amelia, OH.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Harvest Home Church in Corbin, KY, where his funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Doug Lawson and Pastor Jimmy Asher officiating. Burial will follow at Merrimac Cemetery in Laurel County, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
