Harold Dean Sizemore, age 88, of Gray, KY, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at his home.
Born in Hyden, KY, he was the son of the late Clarence Sizemore and Myrtle Shell Sizemore. Harold proudly served four years as an airman in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he built a respected career in banking, working for 28 years as a banker and loan officer at First National Bank and Trust of Corbin.
Harold was devoted to his faith and was a faithful member of Keck Baptist Church, where he found great joy in reading his Bible and spending time with his church family. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures, including puzzles, mowing, reading, and taking daily walks whenever he was able. Harold was known as a loyal and devoted husband, father, brother, and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Belle Sizemore; daughter, Diana Sizemore; sisters, Emily Burke and Erlene Disney; and brother, Everett Sizemore.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Ashley Burke, John Conner, and Whitney McVey; his devoted caregiver, Joyce Catoe; his church family at Keck Baptist Church; and the many friends and former coworkers from First National Bank and Trust who remained an important part of his life and continued to share regular lunches and fellowship with him over the years. He is also survived by many special friends who loved Harold like family.
Visitation will be held from 12:00–2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Darrell Warren officiating. Burial will follow at McHargue Cemetery in Corbin, KY, with military honors.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bluegrass Hospice Care for the love and compassion shown to Harold Dean. He greatly appreciated their care and truly enjoyed their company.
