Gary G. Bingham, age 83, of Corbin, KY passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, June 25, 2024 in the VA Medical Center at Lexington, KY.
Born in Corbin, he was a son of the late Ora Lake Bingham and Ura Jo Earls Bingham. In addition, he was preceded in death by his wife Jeannette Marie Bingham, granddaughter Amanda Nicole Bingham, great grandson Stephen Harry, son-in-law Michael Leon Burton, brother Michael Duane Bingham, sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Ralph Childers, and sisters-in-law Rita Leroux and Claire DeCesare.
Gary is survived by his daughter Patricia Ann Burton; his son William Bingham and favorite daughter-in-law Deborah Bingham; granddaughter Tiffany Lee Burton; special nieces Melissa (Kenny) Brimm, Allison Brimm and Lindsey; in-laws
Patricia Miller Bingham, Lorraine Mercier, Raymond Plante, and Claudette Baughan; as well as a host of nieces and nephews who were all special to Gary and dearly loved by him, and lifelong friends Terrell Monhollen and Margaret Morris.
Gary graduated from Woodbine High School and attended Western Kentucky University.
He served in the US Army and retired as a Sergeant First Class after 23 years that included two tours in Vietnam in 1964 and 1968. He then worked as a mail handler for the US Postal Service until his retirement there.
Gary was a member of Steele’s Chapel Christian Church, the D.A.V. Chapter 158 at Keavy, and the Amvets.
For years, Gary’s hobby was making wooden toys which he donated to be given to children at Christmas.
A celebration of his life will be held at Steele’s Chapel Christian Church at 1:00 PM on Sunday, July 7, 2024 with Bro. Kent Childers and Bro. Andrew Darden officiating. The Keavy D.A.V. Chapter 158 will perform military honors at the Church.
Burial at Worley Cemetery will be handled privately by the Bingham family.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Bates, Joey Bates, Joe Ostering, Terrell Monhollen, Michael DeCesare, and Todd Childers.
