Faith Whitaker, age 84, of Goshen KY, formerly of the Corbin area, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born on July 12, 1941, in Hazard, KY, a daughter of the late Freeman and Zena Combs. As a beautiful woman and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Faith spent her early life immersed in the love of her family. Faith was a creative stylist and florist who excelled as an interior decorator and designer. She loved decorating for the holidays, especially for Christmas, where she was known affectionately as the "Queen of Christmas." Faith was also a talented singer who gained fame singing with "The Blue Velvets."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Whitaker in 202; step-children, Leona Whitaker and Jeff Whitaker; and by a grandson, Nicholas Mitchell.
Faith is survived by her son, Marvin E. Pinaire III (Anna); daughters, Marla Pinaire and Lauren Mitchell (Paul); stepchildren, Denise Whitaker Mitchell, Todd Whitaker, and Jettie Whitaker; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and by several nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation for Faith will be held from 12noon until 2 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Prayer service will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Emmitt.
