Elizabeth Blanton

Elizabeth Blanton, a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 71.

Born Elizabeth Hughes on February 4, 1954, she devoted her life to nurturing her family and serving her community with unwavering dedication.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Millard Blanton; her parents, Denzle and Irene Hughes; her sweet infant daughter, Amanda Barton; her siblings, Denzle Hughes Jr., Larry Hughes, Cindy McClellan, and Connie Eagle.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Gary Hughes (Laura) of Barbourville, and Steve Hughes (Lisa) of Lily, KY; grandchildren, Steve Hughes Jr. (Alicia) of Gray, Cody Hughes (Ashley) of Corbin, Tiffany Owens (Justin) of Corbin, and Jacob Smith of Barbourville, KY; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marry Farris (Johnny), Ada Wasierski (Dennis); Brother-in-law, Breckey Eagle; and numerous nieces and nephews, who all mourn her passing.

Visitation for Elizabeth will be on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 12-2 pm. at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin, Kentucky. Her funeral service will follow at 2 pm. with Rev. Allen Walker and Rev. Curtis Lewis officiating.

Burial will take place at the Brafford Cemetery in Gray, KY
