Dora Helton, 71, of Woodbine, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009, at her home.
Born in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late I.J. Depew and Dorothy Abrams Ridener. She was Christian by faith and had worked at American Greetings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Moses and Ohler Chadwell; one brother, Ed Depew; and two sons, Thomas Helton and infant Michael Helton.
She is survived by her husband, James Edward Helton; one son, Curtis Helton and wife Rhonda of Woodbine; four daughters, Gloria Barcaw and husband Bobby of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brenda Pruitt and husband Dennis of East Bernstadt, Margaret Roberts and husband Jeffrey of Woodbine, and Deborah Brintley and husband John of Woodbine; one brother, Jessie Depew of Corbin; and one sister, June Garland of Corbin; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, all who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday, April 29, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Decker officiating. Burial will follow in the Perkins Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Tuesday, April 28, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
