Daron Starr Steele

Daron Starr Steele, age 65, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Corbin, KY. 

Born in Dover, DE, his life was a testament to his generosity, unique talents, and loving spirit. Daron's quick wit was renowned, his stories captivating and filled with humor. His mechanical prowess was legendary; there was hardly a thing he couldn't fix. But it was his selflessness that truly defined him - he used his skills to help others, always ready to lend a hand. 

His love for the outdoors complemented his fervor for mechanics, making him a true outdoorsman and gun enthusiast. His dedication to service was exemplified in his time with the United States Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Milwaukee as a boiler room mechanic. This courageous chapter of his life was a testament to his unyielding dedication, a quality that remained a constant throughout his life. 

He attended Corbin Trinity Methodist Church, finding solace and community within its walls. But as much as Daron loved his hobbies and his church, nothing mattered more to him than his family and his dedication to serving others. His love for them was profound and unwavering, a testament to the incredible man he was. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Steele. 

Daron is survived by his loving wife, Martha Stone Steele; mother, Rita Steele; sisters, Sharon Hurt, Tiami Eaton (Rick), and Kim Pollard (Winston); daughters, Rebecca Hays (Jeremie) and Heather Root; grandchildren, Jasmine Root, Jadalyn Root, Carlie Hays, and Aubrie Hays; niece, Tara Dixon (Jason) and children, Hagen Steele and Chase Dixon; nephew, Adam Eaton and children, A.J., Alyssa, and Alex Eaton; nephew, Jeff Eaton (Joy) and daughter Maddie; niece, Deanna Pollard; nephew, Andrew Pollard; and by numerous other family members and friends. 

Visitation will be held from 12-2 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow at 2 pm on Wednesday, with Rev. David Wilson officiating. 

Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin, KY.
