Charles Odell Shores, Sr., age 90, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Baptist Health Corbin.

Born in London, KY, he was the son of the late Stanley Shores and Lillie Smith Shores. Charles spent many years working for the City of Corbin, where he faithfully served in a variety of roles throughout his career. He was a member of Whippoorwill Pentecostal Church and was devoted to his faith and family.

Charles enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing, building birdhouses, and spending time with his beloved dogs. He was known for his hardworking nature and quiet kindness, and he will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelene Shores and Dorothy Shores McDonald; and brothers, David Shores, Tim Shores, Vernon Shores, Orville Shores, and James Shores.

He is survived by his children, Lavonna Shores and Charles Odell Shores, Jr.; and grandchildren, Josh Johnson, Joseph Taylor, Charles Odell Shores III, and Patricia Shores.

Arrangements are pending at this time and will be announced when finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to assist with expenses.
