Charles Ellis Mayton, age 83, of Corbin, KY, passed away on April 13, 2026, at his home. Born in Rockwood, TN, he was the son of the late Harry Mayton and Verna Poole Mayton.

Charles, was a man of quiet strength and a dry sense of humor. He was known for his courageous spirit and dedicated service to his country. His life was a testament to his Southern Baptist faith and to the verse from Joshua 1:9: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Following a distinguished military career in the United States Army, Charles worked in Civil Service at Redstone Arsenal as a Director of Quality Assurance until his retirement. His hobbies included volunteering, fishing, bowling, and collecting all sorts of gadgets. Charles was loved by the many people he impacted throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Netia Mitchell Mayton, and a brother, William Ty Mayton.

He is survived by his daughters, Erika Gaylor (Kevin Fields) and Kristel Reed; grandchildren, Emily Gaylor, Kristopher Gibbons, and Akéla Sanders; great-grandchildren, Jensen Sanders and Barrett Sanders; sisters, Marcia Eaton and June Gemmer (Danny); and special friends, Phil and Melanie Mayer, and John and Janet Dixon.

All services will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
