Charles S. Carter, Jr., age 83, of Louisville, KY, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Jefferson Manor in Louisville.
Born in Whitley County, KY, on October 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles and Lois Carter.
Charles was a beacon for his family; his life stood as a testament to perseverance, hard work, and the indomitable spirit of the human heart. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army before dedicating much of his career to the CSX Railroad, where his commitment and work ethic left a lasting example for those who knew him.
Beyond his service and work, Charles’s greatest legacy was the love he shared with his family. He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Carter and Lonna Carter; grandchildren, Grayson Carter, Jonah White, and Scarlet White; and his sister, Lynita Bennett. Each of them will forever carry his memory with love and gratitude.
Visitation for Charles will be held from 1:00–2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronnie Watkins officiating.
Entombment will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, KY.
