Chanse Paul Emmett, age 27, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Born in Louisville, KY, on May 26, 1998, he was the son of Paula Mahoney Johnson. Chanse was a 2017 graduate of Lynn Camp High School and was attending Somerset Community College to pursue a degree in welding. From an early age, Chanse showed a creative and crafty spirit, which guided him into a career as a welder, machine operator, and printer.
He loved RC cars, Nike shoes, and horror movies — especially watching the reactions of others during a suspenseful scene. He adored his cats, Astro and Pearl, who brought him comfort and companionship. Above all, Chanse loved people. He was a devoted son and brother with a big heart who cared deeply for others.
Chanse was preceded in death by his grandmother, Charlyn Carol Mahoney; uncles, Jason “Hooch” Mahoney, Steven Paul, Willie, Stevie, Chester, and John Patrick; cousin, Ashley Mitchell; and close friend, Candice Gallagher.
He is survived by his mother, Paula Mahoney Johnson (Harry); papaw, Paul Mahoney (Jean); sisters, Linsey Johnson (Jon), Alyssa Emmett (Cody Goins), Brittany Emmett, Destiny Bledsoe, and Lulu Lewis; aunts, Robin Mitchell and Tina Emmett; nieces and nephews, Adrianna Johnson, Kyson Johnson, Rosemary Goins, Taylin Shields, Delena Emmett, A.J. Porter, and Adam Porter; along with a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who will dearly miss him.
Visitation will be held from 12:00–2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
