Carole June Temple

Carole June Jones Temple, age 90, of Corbin, KY, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Born in Barbourville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Crit Steely Jones and Elizabeth Garland Jones. Carole lived a life devoted to her faith, her family, and the many talents God had given her. A faithful member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church, she served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, sang soprano in the church choir, and lovingly decorated the church bulletin board, always finding creative ways to share the message of Christ.

Carole was a gifted artist and talented singer whose creativity touched the lives of countless people. She shared her love of art both as a color artist and as a former school teacher, inspiring others through her patience, kindness, and imagination. Whether painting a picture, singing a hymn, or teaching a lesson, she approached each opportunity with grace and joy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Charlie W. Temple III; sisters, Flossia and Eula; and brothers, Lewis Jones, James T. Jones, Tip Jones, and Claude Jones.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charlie W. Temple, Jr. Together, after marrying in 1956, they shared more than 70 years of love, faith, and devotion. She is also survived by her daughters, Stephanie Temple of Lexington, KY, and Mia Temple of Corbin, KY; sisters, Edna Johnson of London, KY, and Merle Smith of Corbin, KY; her twin brother, Harold Jones of Gray, KY; sister-in-law, Rebecca Doar of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. 

Burial will follow at Clouse Cemetery in Knox County, KY.
