Brinton Allen, 80, of Corbin, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2009 at Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born in Hazard, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Elijah and Charlotte Vanover Allen. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Temple. He retired in 1966 from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of faithful service to his country, including serving in the Korean Conflict. Following his retirement from the service, he was a heating and air technician specialist with Forbes Heating and Air.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lina Allen; and brothers, Elijah and Elisha Allen.
He is survived by his son, Gary M. Allen of Searcy, Arkansas; daughter, Linda Simmons of Corbin; three siblings, Nancy Combs, Phillip Allen, and James Marcus Allen; five grandchildren, Chrystal Yaden, Adam Blake Allen, Joshua Sowders, Angela Sowders, and Kellye Allen West; and five great-grandchildren, Alex Yaden, Destiny Sowders, Mikaliah Yaden, Isiah Sowders, and Landon Sowders, all who mourn his passing.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the funeral at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 21, 2009, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Allen Family Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 1410.
