Billy Ray Shirer

Billy Ray Shirer, age 87, of Corbin, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014, at Baptist Health in Corbin.
Born in Benham, Kentucky, he was the son of the late George P. Shirer and Alpha Omega Qualls Shirer. He was a heavy equipment operator for U.S. Steel/Arch Minerals, was a member of the Grace on the Hill United Methodist Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife Patsy D. Shirer; sons: George Shirer and wife Linda of Barbourville, and Patrick Shirer and wife Rebecca of Corbin; four grandchildren: William Shirer, Andrew Shirer, Christopher Shirer, and Erica Beard; one great-grandchild, Cavan Beard; sister, Mickey Guinn of Ross, Ohio; and brother, Robert Shirer of Rockwood, Tennessee.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Weyman McGuire officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m Saturday, April 26, at the funeral home.
