Barbara Jean Roberts

Barbara Jean Roberts, age 81, of Corbin, Kentucky, was a beacon of love, resilience, and enduring grace. Born on August 23, 1944, in Corbin, Kentucky, Barbara made everyone feel cherished, welcomed, and loved. Her enduring spirit and compassion were her legacy, passed on to her son and everyone else lucky enough to have known her.

In her role as a homemaker, Barbara was the heart of a family that grew around her warmth and kindness. She was the quiet strength that fortified those around her, the laughter that filled their home, and the love that bound them together. She was a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, and a friend, each role filled with an abundance of love and dedication.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Roberts, who she had married in 1961; a daughter, Leica Roberts; by her father, William Sevier, and mother, Nina McHargue Tackett; great grandson, Ryan Allen White.

She is survived by her children, Gary Roberts, Reitha Wells (Bobby), Jerry Roberts (Renea); step daughter, Deborah Roberts; grandchildren, Missy, Tonya, Michael, Rachel, Lyle, Debbie, Brittney, Michelle, Josh, David, Jason, Wesley, Delia, and Gabi; numerous great grandchildren; siblings, Nina Smith (Mickey), Susie Martinez, Adell Sevier, and Ida Broughton; former daughter in law, Terri Roberts; and by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends, including her close friend, Joyce Perry.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Monday July 20, 2026, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday July 21, 2026.

Burial will follow in the McHargue Cemetery, Laurel County, Kentucky.
