Michael Watkins, 47, of Gray, lost his battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 21, 2005. He was of the Holiness faith.
Michael was preceded in death by his father Alva Watkins, grandparents Bige and Lucy Watkins and Martin and Cora Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tina Mills Watkins of Gray; two sons Johnathan & Jeremy Watkins of Richmond, KY; his mother Carrie "Tootsie" Watkins; one sister Karen Mills and husband Wayne; two nieces Analicia Blevins and husband Stan, and Hailey Mills and one great-nephew Jayden Blevins, all of Gray; five uncles, Dan Watkins of Gray, Edgar Watkins of Portage, Indiana, Jack Johnson of Somerset, James and Charles Johnson of Corbin; father-in-law, Rhuble Mills and Sue of Gray; three sisters-in-law, Betty and Garrett Gambrell of Kettering, Ohio, Tammy and Jack Jarman of Burgaw, North Carolina, and Donna and Don Tyree of Corbin; two brothers-in-law, Jim and Hubert Mills of Anderson, Indiana.
The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, Sept. 24, in the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Claude Medlin, Rev. Dan Watkins and Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Gray Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stevie Johnson, Scotty Johnson, Mike Johnson, Marty Johnson, Ritchie Robinson, Ralph Mills, Stanley Blevins and Jessie Tyree. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sandlin Wyatt, Michael Carter and Preston Decker.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Friday, September 23 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
