Maxie Eugene Higgason, Jr., 73, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at his home.
Born in Louisville, KY, he was the son of the late Maxie Eugene Higgason, Sr. and Lenice Pettigo Higgason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Kyle Higgason in July, 2011.
Maxie was an attorney with a private practice in Corbin. He had served as Chairman of the Corbin Board of Zoning Adjustment and as Bankruptcy Trustee, and was a Mason and a Kentucky Colonel. He was an avid Redhound and Wildcat sports fan, and was a member of Grace on the Hill United Methodist Church.
Maxie is survived by his sons, Kyle E. Higgason and wife Caroll Raye, and Michael Ross Higgason; and by his grandchildren, Abigail Grace Higgason, Jackson Kyle Higgason, Caroline MaryAnn Higgason, and Weston Nicholas Higgason.
The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Grace on the Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Thompson and Rev. Weyman McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 16, from 6-8 pm at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home and also after 10am Saturday at Grace on the Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace on the Hill United Methodist Church.
