Jerry Hill, age 71, of Corbin, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Baptist Health Corbin.
Born in Whitley County, Jerry was the son of the late Rev. Eldon Ross Hill and Marie Johnson Hill. He was a mechanic and had worked at Owen's Garage in Corbin and for Arch of Kentucky. He was a member of the United Mine Workers; a former Corbin volunteer fire fighter and rescue squad member. He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Grove Hill; two daughters, Lisa Hill Herd and husband Ron, and Heather Hill Miller and husband Rob; three grandchildren, Casey Herd and fiance Levi Petrey, Brody Herd, and Lara Miller; an aunt, Kitty Hill; sisters-in-law, Mae Grove and Mary Lou Abner and Frank; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends and neighbors, all who mourn his passing.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 3pm Monday, May 6, at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens Chapel with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the American Kidney Foundation.
