Jacqueline "Jackie" Hammons, age 87, of Corbin passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
She was of the Baptist faith and attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Corbin. Jackie was a lifelong teacher where she was an award winning GED instructor in Corbin for the Whitley County Board of Education. She taught full time until age 82 and continued teaching part time until age 85.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Denver in 2003; Parents, E.G. and Pauline Wilson Halcomb; Brothers, Elmon "Brother" Halcomb and Mack Halcomb; Step-sons, Marvin and Norman Hammons; step-daughter, Joyce Faye.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Bonnie Gayle Kellems of Corbin, Paula Lynn Bach and husband Jim of Campbellsville; Step-Son, Winston Hammons of Greenfield, IN; Brothers, Glenn Halcomb and wife Lora of Corbin and Otto Halcomb of Florida; Grandchildren; James Myers and wife Denise of Lawrenceburg, Todd Stokes and wife Tabitha of East Bernstadt, Amy Scott and husband Nick of Corbin; Numerous Great Grandchildren and by many family and friends including special friend, Evelyn Collinger of Corbin.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, from 12noon until the time of her funeral service at 2pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master St, Corbin.
Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery in Corbin.
