Garry Wayne Campbell, age 68, of Corbin, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Hospital. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sharon Campbell, two sons, Frank and Tony, sisters-in-law, Pat and Diane and all the nephews and nieces.
Born and raised in Corbin, the son of Eunice and Sam Campbell, was well-known for his strength and great love of the outdoors. His passion for the outdoor adventure was so strong, he left his home in Corbin and set out for a life in Fairbanks, Alaska. Here he spent a large part of his life living in a cabin built with his own hands where his days were filled with hunting, fishing, trapping and panning for gold. After his father fell ill, he made his way back to Corbin where he met the love of his life and would spend the rest of his days enjoying his family, sharing his life stories, working long hours in the yard, and passing along the wonderful skills, manners, and overall spirit that he was so well known for.
A memorial service will be held at Central Baptist Church, Poplar Avenue entrance, from 2-5 pm Tuesday, March 12. All who knew and loved Garry are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances can be sent directly to the family.
