Dowell L. Cook

Dowell Cook, age 82, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Baptist Health in Corbin.

He was born on September 15, 1941, in Keavy, Kentucky, a son to the late Crit Cook and Minnie Hicks Cook. Dowell was a retired tool and die maker having worked for over 40 years before he retired. Dowell was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Corbin, and he loved gardening, farming, and raising cattle. Dowell was known to be a kind, soft-spoken, and caring man. He was a great storyteller, who loved his family and enjoyed telling stories of his life to anyone who would listen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Solomon Cook, and wife Dorthea; sisters, Delcie "Sandy" Doss, and husband Jim; Rebecca Schmitt and husband George; and Patricia Reeves; and by a sister-in-law Carrie Cook.

Dowell is survived by his loving wife, Eulline Howell Cook; children, Tracy Cook, Diane Wagers and husband Randy, Rhonda Darlene Partin and husband Bill, and Philip Cook; grandchildren, Savannah Wagers, Autumn Harris, Ashton Harris, and Ethan Wagers; brother, Paul Cook; sister, Eva Cook; and by numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Visitation for Dowell Cook will be held from 12noon until 2 pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. His graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, June 12th at Corn Creek Cemetery in Whitley County, Kentucky.
