Mrs. Dexter C. Helton, 88, of Williamsburg, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2011, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Born in Corbin, she was the daughter of the late Otis McFarland and Bertie Lay McFarland. She had worked as a cook at KFC and other local restaurants.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Monnis Helton; two infant children; sister, Nannie Rains Paul; and brother, Lay "Junior" McFarland.
She is survived by eight children: Wayne Willis, Margie Roberts, Patricia "Sue" Newell, Margaret "Ann" Cecchin, Glenda Quinn, Roger Helton, Marcia Monde, and Lisa Cucura; 26 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; brother, Bud McFarland; and sister, Avery Clayton, all who mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be at 2pm Wednesday, January 5, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. A.J. Barton officiating. Burial will be in the Perkins Cemetery.
The family of Dexter Helton will receive friends from 6-9 pm Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master Street, Corbin, KY.
