Delbert "Tip" Messer Sr., age 90, passed away on Friday, July 5th, 2013, at Baptist Health Corbin.
He lived in the Faber Community of Whitley County, he was a retired Carman from L&N and CSX Railroad. After his retirement, he enjoyed growing grapes and tending his apple orchard.
Tip was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia L. Messer, in 2006; Daughter, Linda Houser; Parents, John Wesley Messer and Delilah Catherine Messer; Special Father in law and Mother in law, Elmer and Stella Faddis; Sisters, Golda Candy, Eva Manning, Beulah Douglas, and Eula Compton; Brothers, Jennings and Hubert Messer.
He is survived by his Children; Pauline Worley and husband Bill of Shreveport, LA; Pat Butler and husband James of Hayden, AL; Ann Thorpe and husband Cleland, Brenda "Cotton" Duncan and husband Johnny, Barbara White, Delbert "Tip" Messer Jr, Wesley Messer and wife Mickey all of Corbin; 17 Grandchildren; 30 Great Grandchildren and two Great Great Grandchildren; Special Friends, Nellie Powers and family; Homer Lee and Virginia Jackson, Ruben and Gertie Sawyers; his companion pet "Scooter" and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Humfleet officiating.
Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery with Grandsons serving as pall bearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-9pm on Monday at the funeral home where messages may be written at vankirkgrisellfuneralhome.com
