Betty J Rains

Betty J. Rains, age 79, of Corbin, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2011 in Lexington.
She was an active life-long member of the South Park United Baptist Church where she was vice president of the Ladies Aid and helped with King's Kids. She was a graduate of Corbin High School and was a retired Deli Manager for the former Piggly Wiggly store in Corbin. Betty enjoyed reading and traveling with her children.
She was preceded in death by her Husband; Edgar Rains; Grandmother who raised her, Nancy Jane Logan; Mother, Lissie Mae Ferguson; two Sons-in-law, David C. Petrey and David Mason.
She is survived by her five Children: Charles Rains and wife Della, Mary Petrey, Penny Cloud and husband Jerrell, Pam Mason, and David Rains all of Corbin; 12 Grandchildren: Laura and Jason Rains, Erin Kelsch, Chris Petrey, Jerry, Jeff, Justin, and Lexie Cloud,  Bobbie, Freda, David, and Danny Rains; 17 Great Grandchildren and her soon to be expected 18th Great Grandchild; four Great Great Grandchildren; and by many family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery in Faber.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Monday, Oct. 3rd, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master St., Corbin.
